LAHORE: The government is planning to organise a training workshop for the newly-elected local government representatives to help them understand the new system, The Express Tribune has learnt.

Following the directives from the provincial government, the mayors, deputy mayors, chairmen and vice chairmen have been briefed by their district government officials concerned regarding the working of the district governments in Punjab.

These representatives, however, have remained largely ignorant about the working of the new local body system especially after the promulgation of Civil Administration Ordinance 2016.

In order to address the issue, the government has decided to organise a training-orientation for mayors, deputy mayors, chairmen and vice chairmen in the first phase.
