LAHORE: Pakistan Tahreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has announced it will challenge the Civil Administration Ordinance 2016 in a court of law.

While rejecting the ordinance on Saturday, Punjab Assembly Opposition Leader Mahmoodur Rasheed said the PTI decided to call an all parties conference (APC) to formulate a future strategy as the new ordinance was contrary to the Constitution of Pakistan.

He termed Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif as the ‘viceroy of Punjab’ and said people of had strongly rebuffed this ‘black law’ through which the rulers insulted the mandate of over 100 million people. He demanded immediate the resignation of the chief minister and the provincial cabinet.

The opposition leader said his party would raise a voice against the ordinance on every forum, including the parliament and media.

“The provincial government had squeezed breath of the local government system by introducing the ordinance.”
