'PTI held at least two dozen votes in the FMC, but the result was very humiliating for the party'

FAISALABAD: PTI decided to kick out everyone from the party who supported Rana Sanaullah’s nominee during the mayoral election, said the party’s city organizer Asad Muzazzam on Friday. This, he said, was ordered by PTI chief Imran Khan.

He said that PTI had formally fielded Mumtaz Ahmad Cheema for the top post in the election to the Faisalabad Municipal Corporation along with deputy-mayor’s panel to contest against the Rana Sana Group and the group headed by State Minister Abid Sher Ali’s father Chaudhry Sher Ali.

“Three days before the election for the mayor, Mumtaz Cheema held a meeting with Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah and not only decided to support the Rana Sana panel but also motivated other eligible PTI voters to vote for this panel,” he said.

The PTI’s city chief said: “We were excluded by Mumtaz Cheema and his associates in such a vital decision and the party and its supporters faced embarrassment when the results of the Mayoral elections were announced in which the PTI panel got zero votes.”

“PTI held at least two dozen votes in the FMC, but the result was very humiliating for the party,” Dr Asad said.

“The situation was communicated to the party’s high command and the PTI Chief has formally asked us to proceed against all turncoats. Therefore, we are serving show-cause notices on Mumtaz Cheema and other elected union council chairmen who supported the PML-N nominee against the party’s decision.”
