MANSEHRA: The Mansehra deputy commissioner has suspended three health department officials for being absent during a recent polio vaccination campaign in the district.

Mansehra District Health Officer Dr Shehzad confirmed the report, adding that a four-day polio campaign was launched in the district on Monday, and the three suspended employees had not applied for leave or otherwise informed the department that they would be absent, forcing him to write to the Mansehra DC.

He said that on his complaint, the DC had suspended Kutli BHU technician Liaqat Ali, Harbora BHU staffer Sardar Arif, and Belian BHU staffer Muhammad Tausif while also issuing show-cause notices before final action against them. He said that an inquiry had also been launched on the DC’s orders.

About the polio campaign, the DHO told that 283,000 children would be administered polio drops during the campaign, which ends on Thursday (today).
