ISLAMABAD: The election to the seats of chairmen, vice-chairmen, mayors and deputy mayors in district council, municipal corporation and municipal committee of Khurrianwala, Faisalabad and Jalalpur Jattan, Gujrat will be held today (Thursday).
The Election Commission of Pakistan has written a letter to the interior secretary for deployment of sufficient Rangers inside and outside the polling stations in order to ensure smooth and peaceful conduct of elections.
The election commission has also written a letter to the Punjab chief secretary and police chief to issue instructions to district coordination officer and district police officer of Toba Tek Singh for ensuring impartially during the polls for chairmen, vice-chairmen slots scheduled for today.
The polling authority has called for foolproof security arrangements for smooth conduct of elections at the polling stations. The deployment sufficient police force at each polling station has been directed in order to avoid any untoward incident.
