In a statement, KCCI President Shamim Ahmed Firpo pointed out that a large number of KCCI members had been unable to file returns by the deadline of December 15 because of the faulty online registration system, IRIS. The system collapsed on the last date as it could not bear the massive load of a large number of taxpayers simultaneously filing sales tax and income tax returns.
Firpo argued that complications in the online system were not new as every year taxpayers had to face severe hardships, which not only frustrated them but was also one of the major reasons behind the trust deficit between the taxpayers and FBR.
