QUETTA: Senate Standing Committee on Water and Power Chairman and Pakistan Muslim League-N Senator Sardar Yaqoob Khan Nasar has said that thousands of jobless youth of Balochistan would be provided employment through the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

He said that the Gwadar Deep Sea Port and other mega projects being executed through the Pak-China joint venture will provide jobs to many.

He said steps are being taken to establish a University in the port town of Gwadar, adding that Gwadar is going to become an international industrial town, said Nasar.

In an interview with APP here on Monday, he said that transportation of Chinese goods from Kashghar to Gwadar through Balochistan has proved that law and order situation has been improving in the region.

The passing of Chinese containers through Balochistan to reach Gwadar has also provided evidence that law and order has been restored in the province.

“The federal government is taking measures to establish a university and vocational institute in Gwadar for imparting higher and standard education to the youth of the province.”

He said that the implementation of CPEC would open new doors of progress and prosperity for Balochistan.

“CPEC will bring prosperity not only for Pakistan but for the entire region,” he said.

Truth | 7 years ago | Reply First China will make sure Pakistan will fall in Chinese debt trap. Then they will dictate Pakistan to allow trade route for India. Because nobody wants to ignore the world's fastest growing economy India with 1.3 billion people. Then Chinese will start treating Pakistani Muslims like they are treating Muslims in Xinjiang province in China. Chinese are ruthless business people. Chinese are not even allowing Muslims in China to do fasting during Ramadan. By the way What are we going to manufacture? Will it be cheaper than Chinese goods? What is the electricity cost compared to other countries? Pakistan trade deficit is already negative because of free trade agreement with China. Have we done the feasibility study for each project? Why China should transport goods through land route if it is ten times expensive than sea route? What is the ROI( Return on investment) for each project? What is the use of Gwadar port when we are utilizing only 50% of Karachi port at present. How are we going to pay back the loans? Is there any calculation done on how and when we will be able to close the loans with huge interest?.CPEC connects the economy of Pakistan with the economy of Xinjiang province in China, not the total economy of China because most of that is located on the East coast where there are already multiple sea ports available for a fraction of the cost of overland freight. So how large is the economy of Xinjiang? Answer: $150 billion. Meaning, the project is actually connecting Pakistan with an economy that is smaller than Pakistan.
