Close Call: Awaran AC, DPO escape ambush 

So far, no organisation has claimed responsibility of the attack

QUETTA: Awaran district’s assistant commissioner and district police officer escaped an ambush on their convoy, while four security personnel were injured on Saturday. Official sources said that Assistant Commissioner Fayyaz Ali and DPO Abdul Aziz Jhakrani were on their way to Awaran and were ambushed when they reached near the Killi Bareet area of Jhao tehsil. During the attack, unidentified men hiding in the mountains opened indiscriminate fire on the convoy, resulting in injuring four policemen. The security personnel escorting the two officials took position and returned fire. The heavy exchange of fire continued for some time and after that the attackers escaped from the scene. Security forces have launched a search operation to apprehend the attackers. So far, no organisation has claimed responsibility of the attack.
