Evergreen: Salad competition held at varsity

The first position was secured by Institute of Food and Nutrition

MULTAN: In a bid to promote the trend and culture of using fresh fruits and vegetables, a salad competition was organised at Muhammad Nawaz Shareef University of Agriculture, Multan on Friday.

The event was held by department of food sciences and technology in collaboration with Art and Calligraphy Club.

At least 45 teams from different schools and universities participated in the event.

The main competition was to prepare different recipes of salad by making use of fruits, vegetables, dairy products and natural ingredients.

The first position was secured by Institute of Food and Nutrition, Bahauddin Zakariya University, Multan while the second and third positions were secured by Government Girls Higher Secondary School Chah Bohar Walaand Institute of Home Sciences, University of Agriculture, Faisalabad respectively.

The ceremony was inaugurated by Muhammad Nawaz Shareef University of Agriculture Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Asif Ali.

While addressing the participants, the VC emphasised the importance of fresh fruits and vegetables. He said, “Fast food has affected the health of the young generation and every house should have a backyard farming system.”

On the occasion, University Syndicate Member Haiya Naseem said, “The university is on the right line of action and it is coming with very good community based actions.
