Apple is expected to launch a new flagship device next year.

According to the The Wall Street Journal, the tech giant has been working on over 10 prototypes. The report claimed that a survey with display suppliers suggested that next year’s iPhone might feature a curved display with a higher resolution than the current model. This also falls in line with earlier rumours which suggested that the tech giant was working on improving its smartphone displays.

Moreover, the report also suggested that Apple might release a new, pricier top-tier model with additional features along with the current two. The tech giant has yet to move on from LCD displays which major smartphone manufacturers have abandoned in favour of OLED screens. OLED screens don't need a back lit screen which entails one less layer of display on the phone. This could result in a new iPhone that is thinner and lighter than its predecessors.

Apple released iPhone 7 and 7 Plus in September this year featuring the same design language as its predecessor minus the headphone jack. Users now expect a completely revamped iPhone 8 which doesn’t fall in line with Apple’s strategy of releasing a slightly upgraded “S” version.
