Initiating reforms: Farmers to get 56 laser land levelling units

Committee has been set up to monitor performance

MULTAN: The provincial government will provide 56 laser land levelling units to the farmers of the tribal and barren lands of south Punjab during 2016-17. The initiative was appreciated by the farmers of Dera Ghazi Khan.

For the purpose, a meeting of District Implementation Committee was held on Monday under the supervision of DCO in DG Khan. On the instructions of the Punjab government, farmers in the district will be provided 56 laser land levelling units at Rs0.5 million per unit subsidy.



In this regard, a lucky draw will be held after the completion of scrutiny of already submitted 341 applications within a week. On the occasion, the DCO said the government was taking effective steps for the welfare and of the farmers. He added in order to control the wastage of water, fertilisers and expenditures, cemented water tunnels, drip irrigation system and modern agricultural tools were being provided to farmers on subsidy.

The DCO suggested that affidavits should be taken from farmers for acquisition of measured areas of land and also for the solution of different problems.

He directed the officials to inform people about the benefits of drip irrigation system and other modern systems on village level.

He said the government had established a six-member committee under supervision of DCO for better performance of organisations related to water management departments and for important projects.

He maintained in 2015-16, at least 55 laser units were acquired for selected farmers and of them, 36 had been distributed.
