Path to reforms: Education sector a top priority, says minister

She said different events would be organised and special programmes would be arranged in educational institutions

ISLAMABAD: Improving the public sector education system and providing modern facilities to the students, equal to the private sector, is a top priority of the government said Minister of State for Information Marriyum Aurangzeb on Sunday.

The minister was talking to the media after attending a ‘Fun Fair’ ceremony at a local school in Islamabad. She said steps were being taken under the Prime Minister Education Reforms programme with consultation of advisory council to improve the quality of education and professional capacity of teachers in government educational institutions.

She claimed that for the first time in the history of the country the government was establishing language labs, besides computer and science laboratories in government institutes. To a question, she said the ratio of admissions in public sectors schools has also increased significantly due to the comprehensive steps taken by the current government to improve quality of education.

The birth of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, she said, would be celebrated with zeal and zest this year. She added that different events would be organised and special programmes would be arranged in educational institutions throughout the week in this regard.

The minister said that up to matric level, education was compulsory for every citizen as per the Constitution.
