BANNU: A female polio worker came under attack by a household that was refusing to administer polio drops to their children in Bannu on Thursday. However, the worker managed to escape in the attack, the Regional Police Officer’s spokesperson told the media.

A resident, Irfan, exchanged harsh words with the polio workers, refused to administer the drops and later called the police to report the accident. Irfan opened fire at the female polio team but they remained safe, the Public Relation Office (PRO) added.

The police have arrested Irfan and seized the weapon used in the incident. A case has been registered against him under attempt to murder, terrorism and hindrance in government work at Bannu’s Cantt Police Station.
