ISLAMABAD: Norwegian Ambassador in Pakistan Robert Keville on Friday said that the real solution to Pakistan’s economic problems is the creation of economic activity in the country through foreign investment.

This would play an important role eliminating unemployment and poverty, the ambassador informed the former federal minister Senator Muhammad Ali Durrani, who called on him here. An investors’ conference to promote investment in Pakistan will be held soon in Oslo, Norway he added.

Keville cited the success story of Telenor as an example, with the company creating thousands of jobs in Pakistan. The economic uplift demands foreign investment in the country in order to speed up the process of development, and create job opportunities for the youth, he said.

Durrani urged foreign donors and international organisations working in the social sector to come forward and help people of Bahawalpur to resolve their problems – which include illiteracy, unemployment, poverty, and health issues – through initiatives for vocational and technical training to youth.
