KARACHI: Infrastructure development has been the focus of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and Pakistan hopes that CPEC would be the driver for joint oil and gas projects, Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said. “We are hopeful that Chinese oil and gas companies will invest in the energy sector and also in other spheres of Pakistan’s business,” he said. Abbasi told Chinese Xinhua news agency on the side lines of the recently concluded Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference (ADIPEC). On the possibility of joint investments in liquefied natural gas (LNG), the minister said, “China, like Pakistan, is an importer of LNG, but we are in discussions with Chinese firms as they have the relevant technology to explore and export LNG”.
