Going green: Tree plantation drive kicks off at Islamia varsity
Jajja lauded the efforts of estate care and farm management officials for making the university campuses beautiful

With the aim of making the university green, a massive tree plantation campaign in connection with prime minister’s Green Pakistan Programme kicked off at the Islamia University of Bahawalpur on Saturday.
Speaking on the occasion, the university’s Vice Chancellor Dr Qaiser Mushtaq said that fruit trees had been selected for plantation as they would benefit the university in the longer run.
He said that the estate care and farm management departments would help them plant 12,000 trees across the campuses. Around 74% of the area at Baghdadul Jadeed campus which was barren and non-utilised, was now being used for cultivation, he said, adding that 76 acres of land had been reclaimed for agriculture and research purposes so far.
Parliamentary Secretary Khald Mehmood Jajja appreciated the tree plantation drive, terming it a great example for others to follow as the Green Pakistan Campaign has been implemented with the active participation of faculty members and students.
