According to AJK Electricity Department sources, Rs4 billion have been allocated in the current financial year for the phased hydropower generation plan.
The first phase of the plan involves construction of 13 ongoing public-sector hydropower generation projects worth Rs16.4 billion and having total capacity of 82.52 megawatts.
The sources said that the Rs4 billion allocation includes Rs1.8 billion from domestic development funds and Rs2.2 billion from the Canadian government in shape of soft loan.
The Kel-II hydroelectric station has been completed and Kathia-II will be completed by the end of this month. All these stations are in Muzaffarabad and Neelum Valley, the sources added.
