WHEN asked if the police were taking action against doctors, considering the hassle around the city, DIG Operations Dr Haider Ashraf said dialogue between doctors and the government was under way and that they would act as per the government’s directions.
Reportedly, only five FIRs have been registered against the protesting doctors for closing down emergency wards and Mall Road, the blockade of which has been declared punishable under Section 144.
The doctors’ protest continued for the third day running on Mall Road, choking the adjoining thoroughfares, including Canal Road, Ferozpur Road and Multan Road. Residents of different areas continued to suffer due to protests called by not only YDA and Young Nurses Association but also those by the water board.
Mehmood Iqbal, who lives near Davis Road, said he has to pick his son from school near Zafar Ali Road and drop him home. He said he gets up to drop his son home during his lunch break. But, he added, traffic on the routes makes it impossible for him to get back to work on time.
