This was revealed by G-B CM Hafeezur Rehman on Thursday while speaking to Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC) Managing Director Abdul Ghafoor Khan and Northern Area Transport Corporation Managing Director Muhammad Hussain in Gilgit.
More than one million tourists visited northern areas of Pakistan this season
Rehman said the project has been approved by Gilgit-Baltistan Development Working Party and is now being referred to the federal government to include it in federal Public Sector Development Programme.
The lake was formed due to a massive landslide on January 4, 2010 at Attabad village, which was 14 kilometres upstream from Karimabad.
The Gilgit-Baltistan government recently said that this year it saw nearly a million tourists, up from 500,000 last year.
