KARACHI:
The police have initiated investigations to arrest the suspects allegedly involved in threatening Sindh Assembly deputy speaker and Pakistan Peoples Party leader Shehla Raza. According to Raza, she received the letter through a courier service at the Sindh Assembly on Tuesday. In the letter, a sum of Rs50 million was demanded. The letter said that failure to pay the sum will result in a bomb blast at the Sindh Assembly and Raza will meet the same fate as Benazir Bhutto. At least four mobile phone numbers were also written on the letter that belong to a man named Abdul Basit, a resident of Jhang, who claims he did not send any threatening note, while Raza claimed that Imran Lashari was the name mentioned in the letter. District South SSP Saqib Ismail Memon said they have received a letter from Raza and have started investigations to arrest the suspects.
