Raheem Swati has been indicted in cases pertaining to attack on police personnel with the intent to killing them, possession of illicit weapons and explosives.
ATC extends remand of Perween Rahman’s alleged killer
These charges together make three different cases under Sections 353 (attacking law enforcers), 324 (attempted murder) and 34 (common intention) of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC); Section 23(1)a of Sindh Arms Act; and Section 3 and 4 of Explosives Substances Act. The cases are being tried under the Anti-terrorism Act.
In May, an administrative judge of an ATC extended Swati's remand. The judge allowed the investigators to interrogate the suspect for five days and directed them to produce him in court along with the final charge sheet.
Prime suspect of Perween Rahman murder netted
The police claimed to have arrested Swati on May 7 this year following a shootout in the Sultanabad area of Manghopir. Illegal weapons and explosives were also allegedly seized from his possession.
