ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his cabinet on Wednesday appreciated the role of Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan and law enforcement agencies in  ‘effectively’ tackling the security situation in Islamabad and averting Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s plan to lock down Islamabad.

“You did your duty to protect the state and the role of law enforcement institutions in establishing writ of state is commendable,” a Prime Minister House statement quoted the premier as telling Nisar.

“I did my duty under the guidance and leadership of the prime minister and I must compliment police and FC who stood by the state and law despite the lockdown onslaught. I am thankful to the prime minister for his confidence and complete support,” the interior minister said at Wednesday’s cabinet meeting in turn.

Nawaz said the writ of the state would be maintained come what may and no one would be allowed to hold the country hostage. “Pakistan is on the road to progress and prosperity and a small minority would not be allowed to impose its will on millions of peace loving Pakistanis to create chaos and instability using anarchist methods. The people of Pakistan have rejected such forces and put their weight behind PML-N,” the PM House statement quoted him as saying.
