Sindh hit back after Punjab go past 500

KARACHI: Sindh made a fighting reply to Punjab’s first-innings total on the third day of the Pentangular Cup, being held in Lahore, ending at 267 for three after the home side had posted 515 for six.

Sliding to 52 for two, Sindh’s captain Khalid Latif scored 88 to lead his side’s recovery. He found support in Hasan Raza (75*) and Sarfraz Ahmed (68*), who will resume the innings today. Mohammad Khalil, Mohammad Talha and Mansoor Amjad picked up a wicket apiece for Punjab.

The hosts were able to go past the 500-mark courtesy Kamran Sajid (68) and Usman Salahuddin (71). Sohail Khan was the most successful bowler for Sindh and picked up three wickets while giving away 110 runs.

Balochistan in strong position

Balochistan ended at a strong position against Federal Areas gaining a lead of 172 as they reached 97 for three at stumps.

Abid Ali (39) and Rameez Alam (32*) were the major scorers while Umar Amin was the most successful Federal Areas bowler again as he picked up two wickets.

Earlier, Federal Area were all out for 278. Amin remained impressive as he hit 11 boundaries in his 82. He was supported by Raheel Majeed (75).
