BAHAWALPUR: All stakeholders must cooperate with each other ahead of the crushing season of sugarcane as it is the biggest economic activity in the district, said Rahim Yar Khan DCO Capt (retd) Muhammad Zafar Iqbal on Saturday.

He was addressing a meeting organised to make arrangements for the annual crushing season that will start from November 15.

“Cooperation among all stakeholders is needed as usurping the rights of any member will not be tolerated,” he said. “The district administration is fully aware of the rights of agriculturists and this time, we will not repeat the mistakes we made last year.”

He assured the participants that the district administration would try its best to resolve the problems of agriculturists and sugar mill owners.

Zafar directed the assistant commissioners to establish complaint cells at sugar mills and deploy responsible officials. He said he would deal with the complaints of agriculturists himself but the assistant commissioners would send him reports every day.
