MULTAN: The police will be the worst-hit by government policies, said Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani while talking to the media on Saturday. “The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leadership needs to understand that the use of force is not allowed in democratic rule,” he said.

In its attempt to crucify the democratic and legal rights of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and its allies, the government has been destroying the repute of police who are only following government orders, he said.

“People are seeing police as a barbaric institution and they have no sympathies and they do not trust them,” said the former prime minister, adding that in the future the youth will not be interested in joining the police with a passion to serve the country.

Talking about the government’s strategy deal with protesters, he said it is their democratic and legal right to protest and the parliament should resolve their problems.
