Lal Masjid has not only distanced itself from the PTI but it has also gone a step ahead and declared the party’s agitation plan “illegal and unconstitutional”.
In a statement issued by Shohada Foundation, an umbrella organisation for Lal Masjid and its religious seminary Jamia Hafsa, the spokesperson said the Foundation agreed with Imran’s point of view but differed with his actions.
No decision on support for PTI’s 'Islamabad siege', says Lal Masjid cleric
The spokesperson said that while the PTI leader talks about and demands justice for those killed in Model Town, Lahore, he never uttered a word about those killed during the Lal Masjid siege in 2007.
“When Imran Khan talks about martyrs of Model Town, he is flanked by those who have blood of Lal Masjid martyrs on their hands,” said the spokesperson, adding that Imran’s actions did not support his claim and promise of bringing about justice in the country.
“We will neither support PTI’s sit-in nor will participate in it… Shohada Foundation will not become a part of any un-Islamic, unconstitutional and illegal action,” the statement read.
