‘Torture’ of teenagers: Sindh High Court issues notices to authorities

KARACHI: The Sindh High Court issued on Monday notices to federal and provincial authorities over a petition filed by a Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) - London leader's wife against a raid at her house and the alleged torture of her children.

A division bench headed by Justice Niamatullah Phulpoto issued notices to the interior secretary, home secretary, Rangers DG, Sindh IG and Karachi police chief on a petition by MQM-London Rabita Committee member Sathi Ishaq's wife, Shabana.

She states that the Rangers raided their house on October 22 in search of her husband and despite being informed of his absence, they remained there and tortured her 16-year-old daughter and 13-year-old son, making videos of them.

She added that her husband has not returned home since Saturday and she fears he might have been 'picked up'. She requested the court to ask the authorities to declare a case against Ishaq.

The bench issued notices to the respondents, seeking their replies by November 8.
