LAHORE: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) held a ceremony in Green Town to commemorate the fifth death anniversary of Begum Nusrat Bhutto on Sunday.

A large number of workers and leaders participated in the ceremony and paid tribute to Begum Nusrat Bhutto for her struggle for democracy in Pakistan.

While addressing PPP workers, party’s ex-Information Secretary Faisal Mir said during her struggle against General Zia, Begum Bhutto was deceived by many PPP stalwarts.

“Now after her death, some of the present-day PPP leaders who were never part of Begum Sahiba's struggle against General Zia are declaring that ‘Begum Nusrat Bhutto is the legacy of the past, today belongs to us’, he said.

Faisal Mir further said that had she not come out to lead the struggle against martial law, General Zia would have been successful in disintegrating the PPP altogether.
