Encounter: Police arrest ‘criminal’ wanted in 54 cases

Suspect accused of supplying weapons to gangs

SUKKUR: The Shaheed Benazirabad police arrested a notorious dacoit who was wanted in several cases of crimes and recovered 11 kilogrammes of hashish from his possession.

According to the police, the suspect, identified as Sultan Shah, was planning to supply the hashish to drug peddlers. The B section police station in Shaheed Benazirabad has registered an FIR No 128/2016 under Section 9-C against the accused.

Appreciating the performance of the police team that arrested the suspect after an encounter, Shaheed Benazirabad SSP Tanveer Hussain Tunio has announced a cash reward and commendation certificates for the team. Talking to The Express Tribune, the SSP said that the suspect was allegedly wanted in 54 cases of crimes, including murder, kidnapping and robberies. According to the SSP, the accused was involved in supplying weapons to various criminal gangs along with extortion and land grabbing in Sukkur and other districts.



Earlier, the police had killed a hardened criminal, identified as Khair Muhammad alias Khairoo Bhatti, in upper Sindh. Law enforcers had also recovered a light machinegun and bullets from the possession of the suspect, who carried head money of Rs5 million. Appreciating the good performance of the police team that took part in the encounter, Shaheed Benazirabad DIG Farhat Ali Junejo had announced cash reward and commendations certificates for them.
