Our talented designers are gearing up for the upcoming Fashion Pakistan Week 2016

October 23, 2016

Our talented designers are gearing up for the upcoming Fashion Pakistan Week 2016, and also, as always, stressed about all things fashion week! To lighten up their moods, we asked them to take a piece of paper, with one of their previous designs printed on it, and tell us how they’re feeling about the upcoming fashion season, through that piece of paper. Check out their creative answers below!

Maheen Karim

I demonstrated my thoughts about the fashion show by cutting out a star. The design is from my new collection and I am very excited to showcase it at FPW 2016. Fashion week tends to be very stressful but I am trying to enjoy this time and looking at it from an optimistic and exciting point of view. The star I created represents my glitzy, western collection. It signifies glamour, nightlife and excitement!

This time of the year is always stressful. Meeting deadlines and creating designs that will please my clients is my number one priority. There is a responsibility that comes with fashion week but I am proud to see my work grow each year. I drew a picture of two massive clouds to demonstrate my feelings regarding the fashion show. Currently I am organising FPW, taking care of all the designers, coming out with my own collection and working on a new film simultaneously. So there is a lot in the clouds at the moment but I am very excited to put it together on the big day and see the response.

I believe that fashion week is a great platform for designers to come together and showcase their collection in one space. It’s a great way to broaden your horizons and display fashion locally and internationally. I drew a giant heart that demonstrates my positive energy and attitude this year. I have lots of love for the all the people who have helped me get everything together and on the right track.

It’s all about mindfulness these days. Origami is a fun way to stay focused on the present.

We live in a world of hardships and sorrow, and people around us are searching for peace and harmony. We all have different means and ways of earning it, but how amazing will it be if we resolve our worries without war, hate, conspiracy and deceive. I want us all to give love a chance, which is what I reflected in the message I wrote on the paper. This fashion week I am looking forward to bringing my plea on the runway, with my Mughal inspired collection, portraying serenity and peace. Though I’m truly excited, I am also a little nervous as to whether my ‘Pukaar’ will touch the hearts of the audience or not.

My collection is titled ‘Banaras’ and I’m quite excited about FPW 2016. This time we are hoping to do something different! It is a traditional collection as we have taken inspiration from Mughal architecture. I cut out circles because we used polka-dots and geometrical patterns this season. I then placed it on a door because we have used architectural patterns like pillars, doors and windows in our collection too.

I cut out a puzzle on the paper as everything is coming together well, but all the pieces just need to fit in together perfectly. I’m excited about the upcoming show, where I will be showcasing my ‘D’or Opulence’ collection. I’m looking forward to finally putting all the pieces together, and presenting my completed puzzle on the ramp.

Fashion week is always very exciting. It gives you a chance to experiment and let your creative juices flow. From putting it first on a paper to making the final product, fashion week helps my creativity reach its highest point. I drew a wing to demonstrate my emotions. My collection is called ‘Midnight Garden’ and it signifies a mysterious girl who is free-spirited, ready to experiment and has no limits.

Fashion week gives me a chance to explore myself to a whole new level and pushes me to cross my own frontier. I drew an arrow based on my line called ‘Moving Forward’. It is all about moving forward in life and I believe fashion is a reflection of life. Therefore the arrow demonstrates my achievements, belief in moving forward and desire to create something new each time.
