Rising crime: Police registered 62 cases of murder in capital this year

Official figures show Koral reported highest number of such cases

ISLAMABAD: Heinous crime has been on the rise in the capital with as many as 62 murder cases being registered at police stations around the city over the past eight months, official figures said.

However, theft, robbery and snatching were the most frequently reported crimes in the capital.

Official figures released on Sunday said that 512 criminal cases had been registered at the 22 police stations in the capital.

Of these, 257 cases were of theft, 101 of robbery and 92 of snatching.

Breakdown of the data per police station showed that Golra police station had reported the highest number of cases registered with 39 during the period. Coincidently, it also had one of the highest number of murder cases with six. Other cases included 22 of theft, five of snatching and six cases of robbery.

Koral Police Station registered the highest number of murder cases. Of the 35 cases it had registered, nine were of murder, 13 of theft, six of snatching and seven cases of robbery.



Sabzi Mandi police station reported 37 cases. Of these four were of murder, 14 were of theft, 10 of robberies and nine of snatching.

Industrial Area Police Station registered the third highest number of cases at 35 including two of murder, 20 of theft, eight of snatching and five cases of robberies.

Margalla Police Station registered 29 cases during the period, including one of murder, 19 of theft, two of snatching and seven cases of robbery.

Tarnol Police Station was among the three stations with the highest number of murder cases. Of the 27 cases registered at the precinct, six were of murder, seven of theft, six of snatching and eight of robberies.

Lohibher Police Station registered 24 cases including one of murder, 13 of theft, five for snatching and five cases of robbery. Kohsar Police Station registered 22 cases including two murder cases, 14 theft, four snatching and two cases of robbery.

Stations within the city had comparatively fewer crimes reported with Aabpara Police Station registering just 12 cases during the period which included two of murder, seven of theft, two of snatchings and one of robbery.

Secretariat Police Station registered one of the fewest cases in the capital at six. They included one of murder, three of theft, one of snatching and one of robbery.

Sihala Police Station registered28 cases including three murder cases, 14 theft, four snatching and seven cases of robbery. In Nilore, police registered 12 cases were including three of murder, two of theft, four of snatchings and three of robberies.

Shehzad Town police registered 18 including two murder cases, seven theft cases, five snatching cases and four cases of robbery.

At the Bhara Kahu Police Station, 28 cases were registered including six of murder, 18 of theft and two each cases of snatching and robbery,

The Women Police Station registered seven cases during this period, though all of their cases were for theft. Shalimar Police Station registered 28 cases including two of murder, 18 of theft, four each of snatching and robbery.

Similarly, in Ramna Police Station 26 cases were registered including four of murder, 16 of theft, two of snatching and four cases of robbery.

The Bani Gala Police Station registered 10 cases including two of murder, five of theft, one of snatching and two cases of robbery.

In Khanna, police registered 28 cases were registered including four of murder, seven of theft, seven of snatching and 10 cases of robbery.
