PESHAWAR: A police constable was gunned down Friday near Peshawar's Pardah Bagh area by unidentified armed men.

Rehman Ali was an ex-serviceman, police officials stated, adding that he was a resident of Swabi. According to reports, he was on duty when the incident occurred.

Further, Ali was shifted to Lady Reading Hospital where doctors said he succumbed to his injuries.

At least two people were injured along the Pak-Afghan border when a suicide bomber blew himself up at the Kharlachi check-post in Kurram Agency, officials confirmed. An Frontier Corps soldier received injuries as a result of the attack.

As per reports, the bomber was entering Pakistan from Afghanistan. The attack comes a day after 10th of Muharram, when security across the agency was kept on high alert in view of sectarian violence.

"The incident took place at the Tezwa checkpost," FC officials said. Initial reports revealed the bomber was being checked when he exploded himself. The Kharlachi Gate is one of the trade arteries from Fata, connecting Pakistan to Afghanistan.

"Investigations are underway," officials said adding that the FC soldier injured is in stable condition.
