A London-based Muslim blogger, received unexpected gestures of kindness as he dressed as a homeless man in Islamic attire.

Hassan Saleemi filmed himself sitting in London's Leicester square during a social experiment, holding onto a cardboard sign with 'I'm homeless' written on it. While Saleemi was ignored by most passersby, some stopped to ask if he was alright, followed by a man who offered him food.

Saleemi, who is a Middlesex University graduate, was then approached by three girls. One of the girls offered Saleemi £50, and in order to turn down the offer, he was forced to reveal his identity.

Speaking to MailOnline Saleemi said, "I was born and bred in London and I have never experienced some of the negativity you see and here about.

"As a Muslim I wanted to show that there are people out there who want to help and it doesn't matter if you are homeless, Muslim or anything.

"To be honest I had to let them (the girls) know this was a social media experiment. After the kind gesture I just had to let them know."

Saleem, whose family is originally from Pakistan, has been making videos for almost a year, but claimed this was his first video which received such an overwhelming response.

"I was only out for about an hour and in that time about 15 to 20 people acknowledged me or came up to me," he said.
