Late development: 14 infrastructure projects face undue delays

The government has allocated development funds to the tune of Rs2.3 billion for new development schemes

BAHAWALPUR: At least 14 development projects initiated by the Cholistan and Bahawalpur development authorities are facing unnecessary delays that have irked the Bahawalpur commissioner.

The projects aim to extend high-quality, socio-physical infrastructure to provide decent and comfortable socio economic facilities to the people of Bahawalpur.

Saqib Zafar has expressed his strong displeasure over the undue delays in the completion of the schemes worth about Rs620 million and warned that strict action would be initiated against the officials concerned.

The commissioner was presiding over a high-level meeting to review the pace of development of various development projects in the three districts of Bahawalpur Division.

Under the annual development programme for the 2016-17 fiscal, 230 ongoing development projects will be completed at a cost of Rs10.5 billion.

The government has allocated development funds to the tune of Rs2.3 billion for new development schemes as well.
