ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has established its first ever campus, Federal Election Academy for capacity building of its officers.

ECP, has entered into an agreement with Pakistan Post and have rented the premises of Postal Staff College in the capital to set up the first proper campus of the academy.

Capacity building training of ECP officers will commence from October 17, at this campus, said the official handout issued by ECP.

The statement said this initiative has been taken to improve efficiency of ECP officers, especially in connection with the preparation of general elections scheduled in 2018.

The Supreme Court led judicial commission which  had probed irregularities in 2013 general elections, in its report had pointed out weaknesses on part of ECP and had urged the commission to undertake proper training of its own officers and the field staff it hires from other government departments for election duties.
