KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) granted on Friday interim bail to business tycoon Sikandar Jatoi in a case related to alleged corruption in the Pakistan Steel Mills (PSM) till November 15. The interim bail was granted by a division bench, headed by Justice Ahmed Ali Sheikh, which directed him to furnish a surety of Rs500,000 with the court’s nazir (official). The other member of the bench, Justice Muhammad Karim Khan Agha, had however declined to hear the matter. Jatoi had approached the high court after his bail application was dismissed by an accountability court due to non-prosecution. The National Accountability Bureau claimed the business tycoon was involved in a Rs500 million corruption scam in the steel mills. However, Jaoti has denied the allegations. In the high court, Jatoi pleaded for bail arguing that the accountability court had dismissed his bail plea over non-prosecution. The court then accepted his interim bail plea.
