LAHORE: Former Test captain Salman Butt and fast-bowler Mohammad Asif are optimistic to take part in the second edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL).

The drafting process will be held on October 18 and 19 in Dubai. The duo, who are currently playing in the ongoing Quaid-e-Azam Trophy for Wapda, is hopeful that the franchise will pick them.

“I am thankful to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and PSL management, that has given me this opportunity and included my name in the [draft] list,” said Salman, who is listed in the Diamond category, while talking to The Express Tribune.

“I am working hard to get my place in the Pakistan team again. I am sure that I will be able to prove fitness in the ongoing tournament, and also hope that my performances will convince franchise to include me in the second edition of the PSL,” he added.

On the other hand, Asif, who is listed in the sliver category of the drafting process, is hopeful to convince franchises to pick him for the cash-rich T20 league.

“I have trained in Oslo, Norway a few weeks ago and after that played in the Afghan cricket league as well,” said Asif, adding, “Now I am playing for Wapda in Quaid-e-Azam Trophy, and I am confident that I will be selected for the PSL as well.”

Asif, who was the part of the famous spot-fixing scandal, also revealed that his focus is on the performance, which will help him earn faith of the fans. “Whatever happened in the past is something I don’t think about,” he said. “Now I am looking to perform good so I can earn the faith and respect of the fans once again.”

Disgusting | 7 years ago | Reply Their selection can be expected with Nawaz Sharif being the Patron of PCB. Conducive environment for them. However I would hate to watch two convicts playing the game they were sentenced for corrupting it that too in a foreign country and remained in jail there!!!
