LAHORE: Stressing on strengthening relations between the two countries, the Hungarian Embassy’s Counsellor in Islamabad Sandor Mihalko has urged Pakistani companies to invest in Hungary.

While stressing on enhancing mutual trade and strengthening academic and cultural relationships between the two countries, the envoy said his country was looking forward for more investment in Pakistan. He was addressing a seminar on Hungary-Pakistan European Union Relations at the Government College University Lahore (GCU) organised by the
GCU Directorate of Academic Planning and External Links.

The counsellor said a Hungarian energy company had invested $2 million in Pakistan in recent years, but there were no significant Pakistani companies or investment in Hungary.

“Mutual trade between Hungary and Pakistan has also dropped by five per cent in the last one year,” he said.

“Both countries have non-problematic diplomatic relations since the last 50 years, and Hungary has been supportive of Pakistan’s fight against terrorism and assisted in curbing its energy crisis as well,” Mihalko said.
