What do you want to implement in dances that hasn’t been done before?

People celebrating Pakistan’s culture, rasams, and traditional dances. Traditions, like how a younger sister dances at her elder sister’s mehndi, or songs that promote Pakistani music, with folk steps. I want to see a traditional Pakistani wedding done on a grand scale.

How do you make each person’s dances unique?

It depends on the family’s temperament. Some people want difficult steps, whereas in some households dance is not common.

What is the ultimate wedding entrance?

The bride and groom entering with their whole family. The family should go straight to the dance floor and do a small dance with the bride or groom. It would be like a welcome from each family.

What is the ultimate move this wedding season?

Kaala Chasma is my favourite song right now and I want ke Karachi ki sari larkiyan patakha banjaye aur Katrina ke jaise steps kare!



What do you want to implement in dances that hasn’t been done before?

These days, you get to see dances everywhere. So instead, I would add acting and props into the routine to make it unique.

How do you make each person’s dances unique?

People have themes these days, which is a huge trend. I focus on the people dancing and their level. For average dancers I give softer moves, if they are more skilled, I give them steps which showcase that. If people request for the same song, I play with the number of people. If it’s with four people at one wedding, it’ll be with 10 people at another wedding.

What would be the ultimate wedding entrance?

A bride or groom arriving on a jet! I would choreograph a small skit. Prepare a dance of maybe 10-15 baby steps, and a song that is easy to dance to so that people can join in. You should never make it complicated, or try to fit too many things in it, the entrance belongs to the bride or the groom.



What do you want to implement in dances that hasn’t been done before?

I introduced flash mobs into weddings. My opening songs are always flash mobs, and I close with a mash-up for the finale with all the people who danced in the songs.

What is the ultimate wedding entrance?

A bride is in the centre of a truck dragged by two people, and there are girls holding mehndi  around her so no one can see her. But then suddenly the track changes and the bride emerges, and the group follows her to the dance floor.

What is the ultimate move this wedding season?

Boys want really mela performances. For girls, they want more upbeat, fast performances.

What are your charges?

Rs10,000 per song.

What do you want to implement in dances that hasn’t been done before?

I introduced opening songs into weddings, which are a nice way of introducing the bride’s side, or the groom’s side before their dances start.

How do you make each person’s dances unique?

It’s my job to make dances different at every wedding. The first thing to do is, make it all-girls at one mehndi, a couple dance at one mehndi, and a mixed dance for another wedding. Then I change it up, and make new steps according to that.

What is the ultimate wedding entrance?

These days every wedding has a theme, which is great because you can make a wedding entrance according to the theme. The Mughal theme is my favourite; I love the set up with old pankhas as part of the décor.



What do you want to implement in dances that hasn’t been done before?

I would concentrate on coordination. People aren’t even doing simple steps right, so I would try and focus on that more as it requires a lot of attention.

How do you make each person’s dances unique?

I try to use a lot of props. A lot of people have requests for the same songs, but I try to pick and choose or suggest different songs so that they don’t all seem the same.

What is the ultimate wedding entrance?

A combination of a skit, different dances and the use of props always works for a great wedding entrance.

What are your charges?

Rs45,000 per medley.

I want to add Sufi culture to weddings. No one does it, but it would be fantastic.

How do you make each person’s dances unique?

I make moves according to people’s body language. The steps come from the people that are in the dances themselves.

What is the ultimate wedding entrance?

The groom enters on a heavy bike, and drives into the hall to make an entry. He stops and takes a few steps to the stage and his steps echo throughout the hall. Then he says a dialogue like, “picture abhi baaki hai meray dost”.

What are your charges?

Rs20,000 to Rs25,000 per medley.



What do you want to implement in dances that hasn’t been done before?

I would want to make a family medley for a grand finale. People have stopped doing this, but it would be a great hit.

How do you make each person’s dances unique?

I always tell myself that even if we are doing the same song again, I cannot use a single step for the next persons wedding, so I never repeat, not even once.

What is the ultimate wedding entrance?

A Muhgal theme! People enter one by one, and in the end, the bride enters on an elephant. Another great one would be using a helicopter, and landing straight onto the stage.

What is the ultimate move this wedding season?

The hit move of the season is the step that Salman Khan did in Jag Ghoomeya in the movie Sultan.

What are your charges?

Rs35,000 per medley.
