Muharram security: Public hospitals on high alert  

Leaves of medical staff has been cancelled

KARACHI: The health department and Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) have put all the major government hospitals of the metropolis on high alert till the 10th of Muharram to deal with any untoward situation. Karachi health services director Dr Shakoor Abbasi said the heads of hospitals have been directed to ensure availability doctors, paramedical and nursing staff, while ambulance services and blood banks should be kept open round-the-clock. Two control rooms that will remain functional round-the-clock are being established to monitor the activities of mourning processions, said Dr Shakoor. Leaves of the medical staff, including senior doctors, staff nurses and paramedical staff have been cancelled till the emergency ends informed KMC medical and health services senior director Dr Muhammad Ali Abbasi.
