A 32-year-old resident of al Falah Society in Malir, Ali, was beaten up by his friends inside his house on July 27, said the police. The family had accused six of his friends, Fayyaz, Uzair, Farooq, Arshad, Sagheer and Adeel, for torturing him to death. The motive was said to be a monetary dispute. The accused had allegedly suffered a loss of Rs4.5 million invested in the stock market through Farhan, who worked there.
District East's sessions court had previously directed the IO to file a charge-sheet in the case. However, the official failed to do so by Friday.
Taking serious exception to the official's conduct, the judge issued bailable warrants for arrest of the IO.
Fixing the case on October 5, the judge ordered the relevant SSP to ensure attendance of the IO in the court on the next hearing.
Last month, one of the suspects, Uzair, had obtained interim bail from the court against a surety of Rs200,000.
