Security concerns: Universities on Raiwind Road closed for the day

LAHORE: Owing to security concerns, educational institutions on Raiwind road have announced a holiday today (September 30), while some institutes closed down early yesterday afternoon to avoid blockages on the road connecting the city to Raiwind.

The Beaconhouse National University (BNU), which is one of the closest universities to Adda Plot — Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s venue for a protest rally, announced to close down the institute early afternoon yesertday.

Meanwhile, the COMSATS Institute of Information Technology (CIIT) also announced that the campus would remain closed. However, other institutions in the city would remain open as per their regular schedule. On the instructions of Punjab University (PU) Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Mujahid Kamran, a high level meeting also took place to review security arrangements. The meeting decided that PU would remain open today.
