China urges Pakistan, India to solve differences over disputed Kashmir

Chinese deputy minister, Liu Zhenmin, also told the envoys that China values Pakistan's position on Kashmir

BEIJING: China on Wednesday called on Pakistan and India to solve their differences over Kashmir, as tensions mount between the two countries after an attack killed 18 Indian soldiers in the disputed Himalayan region.

China "hopes that Pakistan and India will strengthen channels for dialogue, appropriately handle any differences, improve bilateral relations and together protect the region's peace and stability", a deputy foreign minister told a special envoys to China for Kashmir, according to the foreign ministry website.

China to supply Pakistan with eight new attack submarines

The deputy minister, Liu Zhenmin, also told the envoys that China values Pakistan's position on Kashmir.

Their ties have been underpinned by wariness of their common neighbour, India, with which China fought a brief but bloody border war in 1962.

Tensions between India and Pakistan rose on Tuesday as India's leader cancelled a visit to a regional summit and Islamabad warned it would treat it as "an act of war" if India revoked a water treaty.

harkol | 8 years ago | Reply @Ghazwa tul hind: If historical claims go back Before Christ era (Han dynasty was 200BC - 9AD), then India (Emperor Ashoka) has a claim over all of Pakistan & Afghanistan too!! China has no right over Tibet or South China sea. Just as India has no right over legally formulated Pakistan and Afghanistan.Historicity alone doesn't determine territorial rights. It is determined by recent legality.

Unlike Muslim countries, who turn incoherent at the mention of issues that do not concern them directly like Palestine, Kashmir, under the delusion of a Muslim Ummah
