BAHAWALPUR: Peace marches will be held in all district headquarters on the routes of the Muharram processions to ensure foolproof security and promote the culture of tolerance. MPAs, district committee members and religious scholars will participate in the walk.

Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah said this while addressing the joint meeting of divisional peace committee at Circuit House on Tuesday.

The minister appreciated the efforts and hard work of religious scholars for restoring peace in the district. “Our enemies are attempting to leave an impact through baseless propaganda that provincial government holds a soft corner for extremists,” Sanaullah said.

He maintained elimination of extremists and local facilitators would play an important role in curbing terrorism, and urged citizens to keep an eye on anti-state elements to maintain peace in society. At another meeting, Bahawalpur officials briefed the minister regarding steps being taken to ensure foolproof security during the holy month.
