The founder of International Butler, shares her love for jackets and coats, and talks to us about how her winter wardrobe became her most prized possesion!
When did your interest in jackets begin?
This is a random fact but I actually feel cold all the time, so throughout my whole life, coats and jackets have been my go-to wardrobe essential. I grew up in England, so you’d think I’d be used to the cold by now but ever since I was young, throughout school and university, I’ve always lived in my coats. One of my teachers once asked if I own real clothes, as I would refuse to remove my coat. They’ve certainly been with me throughout my journey!
Out of all your jackets, which one is your favourite?
It would have to be this Pinko blazer. I bought it about six years ago, and its just such a timeless piece. It fits like a glove, and will probably be with me forever.
Where did you buy it?
I bought it from Harvey Nichols in Dubai.
Is there any jacket that you are emotionally attached to and why?
Yes! I have this long Moncler coat with a huge fur hood, I bought it right before I started university. That coat could certainly tell a few stories. It’s about five years old and I still love it so much. Everyone keeps telling me how tired they are of seeing this coat, and ask me to get rid of it or sell it, but I just can’t bring myself to do that. I must add that the coat is still in exceptional condition — you’d be surprised!
Share a story with us about how you acquired one of your favorite jackets?
My dad bought my Pinko blazer for me when we were in Dubai. It was at a time when blazers were trending everywhere, and I didn’t want one that everyone was wearing. We were just browsing and you know when something calls out to you? It was one of those moments.
Is there anything on your radar that you want to get in the future?
I am absolutely in love with Balmain. Despite so many brands trying to rip it off, nothing compares to the real deal. There’s also this Burberry trench coat that I’ve got my eye on. I hate Fall/Winter because of the cold weather, but I love a good winter wardrobe!
