Cross-border firing: Three security posts targeted in Mohmand, Bajur agencies

PESHAWAR: Militants who crossed into Pakistan from Afghanistan attacked three security posts in Mohmand and Bajur Agencies on Monday.

A spokesman for the Frontier Corp HQ Peshawar said “terrorists from the Afghan side of the border” carried out extensive firing on different posts of the security forces in Mohmand and Bajaur agencies.

The first incident took place in the Bazai tehsil of Mohmand Agency, where terrorists fired on Salala top with heavy weapons.  Pakistani troops mounted a retaliatory strike.

The second incident took place at Wolai top post, also in Mohmand Agency’s Bazai tehsil. The Pakistani security personnel gave “a befitting response and forced the enemy guns into silence," he said in a statement.

Meanwhile, the third attack took place in Loi Mamund tehsil, Bajaur Ageny, where terrorists carried out heavy sniper fire on Saleem-2 post which was also retaliated.

No casualty was reported in either of the incidents.
