The decision was taken after Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) officials called many teachers for questioning a few days ago and allegedly humiliated them. The teachers and professors have been pressurised to record statements, complained SPLA members.
"It is decided that we will not check the answer copies of the first year examinations," said SPLA Karachi head Ferozuddin Ahmed Siddiqui at a press conference on Monday. The association also announced that it will not take part in any activities of the Board of Intermediate Education Karachi (BIEK) as the raid on the board office has raised many questions.
Talking to The Express Tribune, Siddiqui said the ACE has been calling all head examiners, deputy head examiners and co-examiners to their offices and 'humiliating' them. "It is sad that teachers of grades 18-20 are being treated this way. This is why we have decided to boycott the checking process," he said, adding that the process of questioning the teachers can be done in the BIEK offices rather than treating them like criminals.
Meanwhile, the BIEK controller examinations Imran Khan Chishti said that he will talk to the SPLA representatives and resolve the issue at the earliest. "We cannot afford the results to be delayed as the second year results were also delayed due to these raids," he said.
