Bollywood actor Arjun Kapoor is currently working on Mohit Suri’s upcoming film Half Girlfriend, which is an adaptation of a Chetan Bhagat novel of the same name. Interestingly, he has also been a part of the movie adaptation of Bhagat’s other novel 2 States.

Book adaptations, however, are not pre-requisites for his films, Arjun claimed. “The choice of films I make is directly proportional to the kind of cinema I have grown up watching. I also don’t stick to working with a fixed set of film-makers. The versatility is partially intentional. And, I will continue to make such choices,” Bollywood.com quoted him as saying.

“Today, not taking risks is the biggest risk. In the beginning, I got different kinds of roles and then I realised it’s great to be that way. And that thought is always there before I sign a film. I aspire to play interesting characters,” Arjun added.

The actor went on to share his experience of working on Half Girlfriend. “It’s been amazing! I loved working with Mohit, Shraddha Kapoor and the entire team.

Arjun Kapoor turns producer with 'Ki and Ka'

It has been a difficult film for me emotionally because of the character I am playing but I have really enjoyed putting myself out there. Fingers crossed, people will enjoy the film as much as we have enjoyed making it,” Arjun said. He plays the role of Madhav Jha, a young boy from Bihar, in the film.

According to Arjun, Bhagat, who is serving as one of the producers of Half Girlfriend, was very cooperative and did not interfere during the film-making process. “The best part about Bhagat is that he is non-interfering. He is very collaborative,” shared the Gunday star. “He took a back seat and allowed us to take his material and make it our own. It’s been a very good experience.”

Kapoor’s next venture is director Anees Bazmee’s comedy film Mubarakan. The project brings him and his uncle Anil Kapoor together for the first time. “Working with Anil chachu will be a learning experience and great fun. Working with Bazmee again will be great too. I am excited as this is my first out and out comedy.” Also starring Athiya Shetty and Ileana D’Cruz, Mubarakan will hit theaters on July 28, 2017.
