Proving fatal: Congo virus claims six lives in Punjab

FAISALABAD: At least six people have died in Punjab of the Congo virus, raising the death toll to 24 in the country in 2016. Health officials told The Express Tribune at least 129 patients have been admitted to government-run hospitals of which 12 have tested positive for Crimean-Congo Haemorrhagic Fever (CCHF)

Reports of another 20 patients believed to be suspected carriers of Congo virus are awaited.

The highest number of suspected carriers of Congo virus, 68, was reported in Rawalpindi followed by 25 in Bahawalpur, 19 in Lahore, nine in Multan, five in Rahim Yar Khan, two in Faisalabad and one in Attock.
