This time around, the Queen star has expressed her opinions regarding feminism. Speaking to the media, Ranaut took a subtle dig at Hrithik Roshan without actually mentioning his name, as she explained the ordeal of her ongoing legal battle with the actor.
“This incident is very different from what I faced in the past. There were no legal proceedings ever initiated against me. There was a lot of media drama, there were a lot of threats and there was a lot shaming. But there was no case filed against me,” India Today quoted the Tanu Weds Manu star as saying. “If anybody, any individual wants nothing to do with me and feels ashamed of me and wants to get rid of me, the only thing I will say to that individual is goodbye.”
Ranaut revealed she faced a lot of feminist pressure during the peak of her feud with Roshan. “Yes, there were media trials and there was a lot of pressure. There was a certain feminist pressure on me to fight and tell the world the sob story that I had,” she added. “But, I didn’t have any. I was in a consensual equation with an individual and I felt perfectly capable of dealing with the stuff that was coming my way, as an adult.”
The actor explained that her problems reached to a point where she started questioning feminism. “I was pressurised so much that I started pondering over what feminism really means. Is it fighting for an individual’s acceptance? Or begging for his acknowledgment publicly? If it is either of those, I’m not a feminist.”
Elaborating further, Ranaut stated, “If it is feminism to not allow a man to say no and making it just the prerogative of a woman to say no, then I’m not a feminist. No means no.”
